Repeat After Me

Repeat after me. Comparison is the thief of joy.
Comparison is the thief of joy.
See, I know that statement to be true.
But to know something and to believe something are two different things.
Problem is, I also believe that statement to be true.
My predicament stems from years and years of collected insecurities
Having thought buried them, only for them to arise when faced with a new situation.
My current struggle is trying to train my mind in to thinking differently.

Sometimes I look in the mirror and feel the urge to do myself in the most erotic of ways.
Other times, I look in the mirror and wonder how I ever got the courage to leave my house.
It’s a constant coin toss.

Comparison is the thief of joy.

Just because you act, look, dress differently from someone else’s norm, doesn’t mean you’re in the wrong.
Perhaps their norm hasn’t worked in their favor, hence their attraction to you. Different. From THEIR norm.
There will always be someone smarter, prettier, with better hair, longer legs, clearer skin, and better clothes.
Doesn’t make them better. It’s just different.
So to compare is simply a waste of time, energy, and emotions.
But how to train my mind and believe in what I’m saying…..that my friends is my current, and daily struggle.
Repeat after me.
Comparison is the thief of joy.
